In June and July of 2025, we had the pleasure of working with Sylvie Lafreniere, an
experienced real estate broker. After reading a small advertisement in The
Westmount Independent featuring a cottage on Dorval Island, we decided to
contact the listing agent. Sylvie responded immediately with an invitation to visit
the island at our convenience to visit not only her listing but also to visit the other
two properties that were for sale.
We had never been to Dorval Island. Sylvie took the $me to explain the history
and governance of the community as well as some of the special challenges
associated with being a town only accessible by ferry and only open for 6 months
of the year. When we decided to make an offer on her listing, she arranged for us
to meet with the resident who was responsible for doing many of the upgrades to
the cottage. This gave us a greater understanding of the property. She facilitated
the negotiation with the owner in a way that neither of us felt that she was
favouring one over the other and when a selling price was agreed to, she
recommended a notary who we found to be efficient and thorough.
In all, our experience in buying a property through Sylvie Lafreniere was sa$sfying
and enjoyable. We do not hesitate to recommend Sylvie to other prospecting
buyers or sellers of a property.
